Performance – DENDORÍ Series of performances by and with Ricardo Aleixo – Afrodadafro

On December 10,  the peformance Afrodadafro, will take place at 35th Bienal de São Paulo, which integrates DENDORÍ – Series of performances by and with Ricardo Aleixo.

Exactly 30 years ago, Ricardo Aleixo went from investigating poetic performance to fully investing in a “poetics of performance”. What the artist defines as “poetry in a performance situation” refers not only to the passage from the written code to the body/oral code, but to the establishment of a vocographic and bodygraphic game that seeks to relativize the boundaries between arts in favor of a free and unstructured intersymbolic relationship.

Reappropriation of verbal, sound and graphic-visual stylings present in works by artists linked to the Dadá group-magazine, in a poetic-political gesture that links together, his recent dialogues with artist-thinkers Abreu Paxe, from Angola, Denétèm Touam Bona (born in Paris to a French mother and a father from the Réunion Islands, he calls himself an “Afropean” = African/European) and Fred Moten, an American living in New York.
