Over 1 million people were able to visit the exhibition, which occupied the Bienal Pavilion last year and travels different cities in Brazil and the Global South in 2024

The 35th Bienal de São Paulo – choreographies of the impossible surpassed 1 million visitors by combining the 662,604 present at the Bienal Pavilion in 2023 with around 361,000 people who have already visited the national and international traveling exhibitions in 2024, doubling the audience of the previous traveling exhibitions program before the current circuit was even completed.

Curated by Diane Lima, Grada Kilomba, Hélio Menezes and Manuel Borja-Villel, the show focused on contemporary complexities and the tension between the possible and the impossible. The 35th Bienal reached 15 cities, including Brazilian capitals and destinations such as Buenos Aires, La Paz and Luanda. This record reinforces the Bienal’s mission to expand access to contemporary art, strengthening the dialog between art and society in multiple contexts. The last stage of the program takes place in Porto Alegre, at the Fundação Iberê, from November 30, 2024 to March 9, 2025.

The Fundação Bienal de São Paulo would like to thank all the visitors, artists, collaborators, supporters, sponsors and partners who made the choreographies of the impossible possible.
